by hook or by crook

Thought I'd rush a post through before I open up the shop for the day.
I've been working on the crochet scarves- I've been thinking as I  crochet motifs like these, that crochet is really all about the negative space, it's the holes that make crochet, unlike in most knitting where the holes are dropped stitches and end in tears and frustration!
I'm also shocked at the number of people who don't know the difference between knitting and crochet. How sad. Maybe we need remedial schooling for everyone in how to make-and-mend.

  1. I know what you mean, it's the same with woven and knitted fabrics, do these people actually ever LOOK at anything?

    drives me crazy.

    xxx fellow textile nazi

  2. again today- 'oh you're knitting!'
(no I'm only using one metal utensil.......... with a hook on the end...... therefore 'crochet'....... French for 'making things with a hook'! hahahahahahahaha)

  3. I obvs know the difference but have had several failed attempts at learning to crochet, so feel a little in awe of crocheted things... "oooh secret magic made with one hook and one piece of string..."

Which episode of the goodies was it? I need to see...
    woody goodies!

  4. how would you like to come to one of our weekly quilting/craft nights and teach us to crochet..??
we've been dying to learn for years cx
